We were excited to have Larry Gifford from Global News and CKNW News Talk 980 visit and tour the HealthTech Innovation HUB at the Health and Technology District on March 10, 2020. Larry Gifford, diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease, was on a mission to explore innovative healthcare technologies emerging right here in BC.
Larry toured our facilities including HealthTech Connex, Surrey Neuroplasticity Clinic, NeuroCatch, and Neuromotion Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. He interviewed various members including Dr. Ryan C.N. D’Arcy (President and Chief Scientific Officer of HealthTech Connex and Co-Founder of the Health and Technology District), Anne Shaw (Clinic Manager at Neuromotion Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation), Sonia Brodie (Neuroscientist and VP of Services at the Surrey Neuroplasticity Clinic), and PoNS Treatment™ client Katherine Webb. He even tried on a couple of neurotech devices including the NeuroCatch™ Platform and the NeuroCom® SMART Balance Master under the guidance of Mathieu Gagnon (Kinesiologist at the Surrey Neuroplasticity Clinic).
The tour and interviews were captured in video and podcast in an episode of When Life Gives You Parkinson’s, where Larry Gifford shares his personal journey into what it’s like to live and work with Parkinson’s disease.
