Advance Concussion Clinic

Featuring Dr. Cirelle Rosenblatt, Founder and Clinical Director at Advance Concussion Clinic.

Advance Concussion Clinic (ACC) is an interdisciplinary clinic dedicated to the management and treatment of concussions. At ACC, they are passionate about advancing concussion care using evidence-based best practice to ensure a positive and measurable recovery. Concussion is a treatable injury, and they are committed to providing and improving the standard of care in B.C. through collaboration with medical and rehabilitation institutions, schools, sports organizations, recreational groups and the greater community.

Advance Concussion Clinic was founded in 2013 by Founder and Clinical Director, Dr. Cirelle Rosenblatt. Concussion research has and will continue to grow rapidly. ACC was built upon an obligation to stay informed on current and expanding research which allows ACC to implement a current, evolving, best-practice approach. Only at ACC can patients access the true interdisciplinary, concussion-specialized clinical team, supporting the most complete recoveries while providing the most effective and efficient concussion treatment possible.

What are your products and/or services?

At ACC, you will work with an interdisciplinary team including a kinesiologist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, counselor, and neuropsychologist. Each discipline will assess you individually and then your rehabilitation team will come together to create a treatment plan unique to you and your injury, ensuring a fast and efficient recovery.

Who are your customers? What type of customers do you serve?

We serve clients who have experienced a mild traumatic brain injury, otherwise known as a concussion! NO EXCLUSIONS APPLY!

Which building are you situated in at the Health and Technology District?

We are located in CC2.

How long have you been in the Health and Technology District?

We opened our doors in the Health and Technology District in the Fall of 2020.

Please describe an exciting project your company has worked on or is working on.

ACC has developed a proprietary AI that has been proven effective in subtyping concussion along a complexity continuum.  Our research was published in Frontiers of Human Neuroscience in 2021, and we are building on this innovative tool, with recent work presented at the International Concussion Consensus Conference in Amsterdam (2022).  Findings indicate that ACC’s proprietary AI can be expanded to support treatment planning such that with under an hour’s worth of questionnaire and self-report responding, the AI generates treatment plan recommendations with a > 90% accuracy when compared with the best-practice in-person interdisciplinary concussion assessment.  This innovation represents the opportunity to guide and support concussion recovery opportunities that are currently out of reach for many due to geographic, financial, and logistic barriers.

What brought you to the District? How did you decide to be part of the District?

Dr. Rosenblatt was excited by the ecosystem that had already begun to be established, with the opportunity to work in the vicinity of other health, medical, and tech providers and companies.  The opportunity for collaboration and the potential for further academic involvement was a key attraction in choosing the HealthTech District for our flagship location.

Has being located at the District made an impact on your business? How so?

We are looking forward to a formal launch this Spring, that we hope will introduce us to our new and existing neighbors who we didn’t have a chance to meet with, as we launched during the height of the Pandemic.

What type of businesses or organizations do you want to see in the District?

More academic presence! But this is coming, I believe.
